Dr. Robert D. E. Henderson
Dr. Henderson is a family physician based in Saskatoon, with special interests in office-based procedures, newborn care, and ADHD. He brings a unique blend of clinical expertise, research experience, and educational leadership to his practice. He often has medical and physician assistant students working with him.

Before entering medicine, Dr. Henderson was a physicist, lecturer and researcher. He earned a BSc in Mathematical Physics from the University of Waterloo, followed by an MSc in Astrophysics from McMaster University, then a PhD in Physics from the University of Waterloo. He later completed the MD/MBA combined program at the University of Saskatchewan, where he also undertook residency training in Family Medicine.

Dr. Henderson is actively involved in medical education and university governance. He serves as co-chair of Research and Evidence-Based Medicine for the Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program and as the Foundations course co-chair for assessment in the Undergraduate Medical Education (MD) Program. In addition, he is a member of the University of Saskatchewan Senate, where he chairs both the Education and Nominations Committees.

His research currently explores deep learning applications in medicine and medical imaging, as well as the scholarship of teaching and learning. Previously, he investigated imaging and spectroscopy across vastly different disciplines—from gene delivery and theoretical chemistry to astrophysics of stars and galaxies. He's also passionate about science outreach, having developed and delivered public programs at McMaster University’s McCallion planetarium and the University of Waterloo’s Gustav Bakos observatory.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Henderson enjoys hiking, ballroom dancing, cooking, and landscape photography.
